Festival of Golf Weekend
As you may be aware, we are hosting a Festival of Golf on the weekend of the 19th and 20th September, hosted by captains Dave Fisher and Denise Hadfield, which is available to all members. Saturday 19th September
- Individual Qualifying Stableford - draw for partners
- Players can select from one of three starting zones
- Hog roast style outside food offering (vegan options available)
- Halfway House refreshments available
- Captain's prize table
Sunday 20th September - Fourball AmAm betterball competition - choose your own team
- Teams can select from one of three starting zones
- Street Food style food offering (vegan options available)
- 6th Hole challenge for a cash prize!
- Halfway House refreshments available
- Captain's prize table
Both competitions are open to all membership categories but limited to 160 entries per day (Tee times available from 7:30am to 2:00pm).
Each day costs £12 to enter, which includes food.
There will be a raffle taking place across both days with the draw to be made at the close of Sunday's play. If you buy a raffle ticket on Saturday, you are entitled to a FREE Club cleaning service on the day. Proceeds from the raffle will go towards the Captains' charities.
Please be assured that COVID secure measures will be in place at all times!

On to pastures new
Elliot Hollamby, who has worked in the professional shop with David for the past year, is leaving for pastures new and moving on to Lindum as an Intern Project manager.
Elliot would like to thank the members for their support during his time here.
Our thanks are also due to him for his support of the club and we offer best wishes from us all for the new job.

Care for the course
We’re sure everyone has noticed how busy the course has become since lockdown. It’s great that so many
of us are able to enjoy the facility. Going alongside that, however, we need to be mindful of the pressures on the course that we are creating through divots, pitchmarks, compaction and wear through our carts and
buggies.
Can we remind you to: - Repair any pitch mark you see on the greens - whether or not it was created by you.
- Replace any divots that you make - with the irrigation now in operation they are more obvious
and also more likely to regrow when you put them back.
- Use the gravelled paths wherever you can rather than creating new ones. e.g. around the 6th
green, behind the 7th green, alongside the 9th green, around the 12th green, right of the 15th
green and alongside the 18th green.
- Avoid pulling your carts close to greens and tees. Leave your cart on route to the next fairway
rather than pulling it back to the tee box e.g. Holes 1, 2, 14, 15 etc.
We would prefer to minimise the use of signs and white lines but some may be helpful reminders. Please see below for an example of the wear we're seeing around the course on the 14th Hole.

It's about to get interesting The Northern Trust begins this week, marking the start of the FedEx Cup playoffs on the PGA Tour. The event, held at TPC Boston, will be followed by the BMW Championship before culminating in Atlanta at The Tour Championship. It’s a hell of a payday for the winner ($15 million), as well as a lot of prestige; joining a list of golf’s modern greats. Justin Thomas has already wrapped-up the $2 million Wyndham Rewards prize for the best regular-season player, with PGA Championship winner Collin Morikawa finishing second. Thomas will be hoping to join Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods as the only players to win the FedEx Cup multiple times (both have won it twice), but it won’t be easy. |
